With the rapid development of the model aircraft field, now brushless motors are widely used. Compared with brushed motors, not only are the performance of model aircraft better, but the quality is also more reliable. So, how is the development of model aircraft motors?

The special brushless motor for model aircraft adopts the latest sensorless design. It features fast startup, excellent mechanical and adjustment properties, wide adjustment range, high reliability, low noise, and no sparking during commutation or radio interference. It has outstanding performance such as high efficiency not lower than 80%. It is equipped with high-performance permanent magnets and a design with high power density.
With the same output power, brushless motors are smaller and lighter than traditional brushed DC motors. When the brushless motor is operating, it does not generate spark interference like carbon brush motors do, nor does it have the problem of carbon brush wear. Therefore, brushless motors are more suitable for remote control, have a long service life, and basically require no maintenance.
Both the inner rotor structure and the outer rotor structure coexist, and the outer rotor structure has a promising future.
For model aircraft, the weight of the motor also determines an important criterion for the aircraft parameters. The inner rotor has a small stator hole, making it difficult to manually place the coils. Since the internal rotation is airtight, the heat dissipation is relatively poor compared to the external rotation. Currently, the general windings of the outer rotor electric motor are enameled wires, which are waterproof.
The brushless motors currently used in model aircraft usually have KV as their technical parameter. KV refers to the fact that whenever the working voltage of the motor increases by 1 volt, the idle speed of the brushless motor will increase. When the number of winding turns is large, the KV value is low, the maximum output current is small, but the torque is large. If the number of winding turns is small, the KV value is high, the maximum output current is large, but the torque is small. Most of the current model aircraft motors use external rotor brushless motors to obtain better direct-drive propeller performance.

The above content introduces the development prospects and KV values of brushless motors for model aircraft. Mastering these basic knowledge will enable you to better handle model aircraft and avoid various "crash" situations.
